COAL PULVERIZER MAINTENANCE AND PERFORMANCE
DESCRIPTIONS
This training is designed to benefit personnel responsible for maintaining the performance, reliability, and availability of their power plants coal pulverizers. This course addresses preventive and corrective maintenance to optimize equipment performance, and recommends procedures and practice before, during, and after mill maintenance overhouls.
OBJECTIVES
The training will enhance the knowledge of the participants to better :
1. Indentify critical inspection points and conduct inspections
2. Execute routine maintenance and adjustments
3. Differentiate typical from abnormal wear
4. Increase reliability and availability
5. Optimize grinding capacity and efficinecy

1. Coal pulverization fundamentals
2. Maintenance summary of the mill’s major components
3. Maintenance summary of key auxiliary systems
4. General liner and wear protection
5. Spare parts and critical service support options
6. Fastener application guidelines
7. General overview of installation and disassembly of such systems as the journals, springs, classifiers, exhauster fans, bowl liners, vane whell, and gearing
8. Performance testing and adjustment for coal milling systems
- Air flow measurements and control
- Air to coal flow optimization
- Coal grinding and finesses efficiency issues
9. Pulverizer fire prevention and post event inspection
10. Troubleshooting
